Dr. Kelly McCullough
B.A., Bates College, 1993; M.A., Bryn Mawr College, 1999; Ph.D., Bryn Mawr College, 2003.

Dr. McCullough joined the GHI in August, 2003 as the Project Coordinator for the German History in Documents and Images project.

Dissertation Topic:
Inner Necessity: The Interior Scenes of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Erich Heckel and their Relationship to the Artists’ Group, Die Brücke

Current Project:
'Project Coordinator of the GHI's German History in Documents and Images project. Also working on an article on Kirchner’s monumental group portrait, Die Künstlergruppe Brücke (1925/26), and a study of Heckel’s 1914 interior scenes, especially those relating to the series Beim Vorlesen and Im Irrenhaus.

Areas of Interest:
Expressionist painting, architecture, and dance; the garden city movement; and architecture and politics.
