Elizabeth Bergner (c. 1930)
Born in Galicia, actress Elisabeth Bergner (1897-1986) became one of the biggest starts of stage and screen in the Weimar Republic. She and her husband, director Paul Czinner, fled Germany after the Nazis came to power. They emigrated first to London and eventually to Hollywood. This photo was taken by Berlin portrait photographer Hans Robertson (1883-1950), one of the first professional dance photographers.
