Schleyer, Hanns-Martin (1915-1977), Nazi functionary and (after WWII) manager and economic functionary in the FRG; J.D., 1942-45, head of the president’s office of the Central Association of Industry in Bohemia and Moravia; 1955, joined Daimler-Benz AG; 1963, member of the board of directors of Daimler-Benz; 1962-68, chairman of the Metal Industry Association in Baden-Württemberg; 1973-77, president of the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations; 1976, president of the Federation of German Industries; 1977, kidnapped and murdered by members of the Red Army Faction; his National Socialist past and his position as a leading industrial manager made him a target of leftist critics.
